Chapel of Aftersteg
A small but beautiful chapel dedicated to St Anne is tucked away in the centre of Aftersteg.
Beschreibung
The present St Anne's Chapel was built in 1909/10 to plans by Raimund Jepplinger. It replaced the baroque St Nicholas' Chapel from 1775. The small church has a rectangular shape with a hipped roof and a 17-metre-high tower with a pitched roof attached to the east side. The tower stands to the side of the nave and has three rectangular sound arches on all sides. The chapel is in the neo-Romanesque style, with a natural stone plinth.
The plinth is in natural stone, which continues at the edges as corner quoins, and the door and window frames are in coloured sandstone. During a 1950, the existing sacristy was extended in the corner between the choir and the nave.
