Der Bildstein - an incredible panoramic view
The Bildstein is a wonderful excursion destination and an impressive vantage point high above the Schluchsee.
Beschreibung
The Bildstein rock can be hiked from almost all directions. The paths and trails vary in length, some are quite easy, while others will make you sweat. You can reach the viewpoint from Altglashütten and from Windgfällweiher, from Raitenbucher Höhe, from Fischbach via Kohlplatz, but also from Schluchsee via the Stutz forests or you can take the steep serpentine path from Aha. The blue rhombus of the Black Forest Association trail from Lenzkirch to the Feldberg also leads over the Bildstein.
The actual 70 metre high rocky slope, which becomes steeper and steeper towards the top and from which wind and weather have blown and washed away every layer of humus over thousands of years, juts out of the mixed spruce, fir and beech forest over the last few metres. The Bildstein is 1138 metres high and drops vertically to the east. The viewpoint itself is climbed on two dozen concrete steps that have been adapted to the weathered and mossy rock. You can now enjoy the panoramic view from several benches - a unique panorama in itself. Nowhere else can you see the Schluchsee in such splendour along almost its entire length from Seebrugg to Aha. With the right visibility, you can even see the Alpine panorama in the distance.
Not wheelchair accessible.
