Fasnachtsverbrennung mit Verurteiltenball
On Shrove Tuesday, there is little foolish activity to be seen on the streets of Todtnau. It is not until the evening that the carnival revellers meet for the last time for a ball and then form up to burn the carnival and bid farewell to the fifth season.
Veranstaltungsdetails
From 18:00, the convicts have to serve their sentence at the convicts' ball. The party continues in the ice cream parlour La Piazzetta until the carnival is burnt on the market square at 21:00.
The Zundelmacher bring gallows, dolls and bonfires to the market square. The town music calls on the fools to follow them one last time with the Fools' March.
And so they set off, with black pennants on their hats, from the Narrenbrunnen towards the church, up Freiburger Straße and from there down Franz-Dietsche-Straße to Fridolin-Wissler-Straße, where they return to the Narrenbrunnen via Friedrichstraße.
Once there, the head guild master delivers the eulogy to Fasnet and the lit Fastnet is bid farewell amid sobs and howls.
The carnival season ends with the burning of the Fastnet.
