GAIA in St. Blasien - dome meets sphere
In autumn 2025, there will be a unique opportunity to see the earth in a way that is otherwise only possible from space. The giant sphere will float and rotate above the heads of visitors in the rotunda, under the dome. The GAIA artwork by British artist Luke Jerram has a diameter of 10 metres and is 1.3 million times smaller than the real Earth. Each centimetre represents 13 kilometres of the Earth's surface. Using original NASA images, Luke Jerram has created an impressive, true-to-scale and three-dimensional image of the Earth.
The art sensation - Luke Jerram's GAIA - comes to St. Blasien from 3 October to 9 November 2025 and invites visitors to marvel, wonder and reflect.
"I hope that guests visiting Gaia will perceive the Earth as if they were in space themselves: as a beautiful and precious place. An ecosystem that we urgently need to preserve - our only home." (Luke Jerram)
