He finds beauty in the ugly, fascination in the repulsive, grace in the wooden movement and poetry in the profane. It is only natural that Ningel's new stories and piano songs are all of an ambivalent nature:
A cheerful hunting song in which hunters become the hunted, a demolished waltz about enmity between friends, a chilling song about a visit to a funfair that raises the question: Where is it actually scarier - inside or outside the ghost train? Do they see a rabbit or a duck? Ningel sees the Wolpertinger! And instead of seeing black, he reaches for the saving watercolour box and draws a colourful panorama of hopelessness: wonderfully bustling, dizzyingly musical and teeming with wit.
"Widerspruchreif" is a cabaret programme full of music, humour, philosophy and stand-up prose and a source of disparate sensations: shockingly amusing, beguilingly disturbing and sincerely flippant. Should you go? Make up your own mind. That's an order!
