This hike offers plenty of variety - there is something for everyone: the "Hüsli" local history museum, lake "Schlüchtsee" or the "Naturena" bathing lake for cooling off and the restaurant "Tannenmühle" with children's playground and lots of animals. Ideal for young and old.

The hike starts at the "Hüsli" hiking car park in Rothaus, where there are also public toilets. From here, walk to the entrance of the "Schlühüwana Park", which leads you directly to lake "Schlüchtsee". In the "Schlühüwanapark", all kinds of mystical gnomes and gnomes accompany you through a wonderful nature reserve to the idyllically situated lake "Schlüchtsee".
At the "Schlüchtseehof" farm, turn left onto the "Promenadenweg": the construction activity of a beaver characterises the course of the river "Schlücht" here. After the tree trail, turn right along the connecting road to "Grafenhausen".
Cross the road and walk down "Kirchsteig" and after "St Fides" Church turn right into "Schulstraße", past the wood sculptor's studio of Simon Stiegeler to the hands-on museum "Schwarzwaldhaus der Sinne". Take the steps at the "Schwarzwaldhaus der Sinne" to reach the sculpture park with its open-air gallery of various international symposia. Cross the sculpture park and leave it to the left at the lower entrance. Pass the "Stork" store and follow the main road to the "Gatti" joinery. Turn right there into "Unterer Mühlenweg". Follow this to the sewage treatment plant and then turn right onto "Promenadenweg". Continue past the "Schlüchtmühle" to the restaurant "Tannenmühle", where you can enjoy lunch and all kinds of things to do.
Refreshed, the route then descends from the car park (left) along a rustic path. Follow the romantic babbling brook to the Waldschenke (refreshment stop). Pass the "Braun" sawmill and you will reach the "Naturena" bathing lake, where you can take a dip in the cool water. Keep left at the "Nabu" centre and walk up along the forest trail to Birkendorf.
From Birkendorf, you have the option of walking back to Rothaus via Horben or taking the bus.
