Beschreibung
The Säbelthoma takes you on a hike through dense forests, leads you to the mystical Mathisleweiher pond and to the most beautiful viewpoints. As a former village policeman, he is very familiar with the old stories about Hinterzarten and will be happy to tell you all about them.
Autorentipp
Enjoy the tranquillity of the idyllic Mathisleweiher pond. If you want to cool off in summer, don't forget your swimsuit.
The Milchhisli offers a wonderful break with a view to the Feldberg and a cool drink. For €2, you can enjoy a cold drink on the bench here.
Wegbeschreibung
At the parking lot behind the Kurhaus in Hinterzarten, you will be greeted by the Säbelthoma. Alternatively, you can start the tour at the church. The Säbelthoma, a former village policeman, has taken on the task of announcing the latest news and will tell you some of it along the way. Here you start the tour through the Kurgarten, along the Zartenbach to the playground in Wolfsgrund. Now you start the ascent to the Hotel Sonnenberg and then follow the Westweg past the Kesslerhofweiher pond. Your next intermediate destination is the Mathisleweiher pond, which is tucked away in the nature reserve. You can take a leisurely break here. Strengthened, you then follow the slightly ascending path to the Häuslebauernhof farm, where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Feldberg massif. You can refresh yourself with a chilled drink at the nearby Milchhisli (€2 per drink). Continue through the dense fir forest to the Bisten and then to the Windeckkopf. At the mountain station of the Thoma ski lifts, you can enjoy a fantastic view, this time over Hinterzarten to the Hochfirst and the Weißtannenhöhe. You now hike across the meadow and through the dense forest to the Vicenz-Zahn rock and then descend along part of the adventure trail to the spa garden and back to the starting point at the Kurhaus.
Ausrüstung
We recommend sturdy shoes.
