Beschreibung
Stühlingen, right on the Swiss border, is the starting point of the 119-kilometre hiking tour. From Stühlingen, the route runs directly along the banks of the Wutach to Weizen. This is the valley station of the famous "Sauschwänzlebahn" railway. The route continues along easy forest paths to the Lausheim-Blumegg museum railway station. Here, a short detour to the Weiler museum mill is recommended before continuing into the lower part of the Wutach Gorge. The Wutachflühen are characterised by steep rock towers, gigantic ferns and gnarled roots. You pass this "primeval forest section" on narrow paths, some of which are exposed. The path continues uphill and, with a bit of luck, you will also see the museum steam train. Shady trees soon line the ascent to Buchberg (876m). At the resting place, you can take a last look at the Wutachflühen behind you. If you are in good physical condition, you can extend stage 1 to the Wutachmühle (approx. 26 km in total, 8 hours).
