Winter round walk

If you are out early in the morning, be quiet as you may see a wild animals.

You start the 8km tour at the Hotel Gasthaus Hirschen in Brandenberg. Cross the B317 right at the start (watch out for cars!). Walk up Rotwiesenstraße until it turns into a forest path. For the next two kilometres, the winter footpath climbs steeply to Großer Rank. Once at the top, you can enjoy the view of the Silberberg, 1356 metres above sea level, to the west. At the Grosse Rank, keep to the right and continue to Spechtsboden, just before Berger Höh. Continue to the Kapuzinerhütte by turning left at the fork and walking slightly downhill. After about 400 metres you will reach the Kapuzinerhütte, which belongs to the Brandenberger Trachtenverein. Although the hut is not open, you can take a short break on the bench under the canopy and enjoy the winter silence. Return to the Great Rank. Turn left immediately after the Kapuzinerhütte and follow the path straight ahead for about 1.5km until you reach the Großer Rank again. You can now return to Brandenberg by the same route you took up here.

Premium Winter Walk

Premium winter walks are specially maintained and signposted winter walks. The routes are chosen to be the most scenic and as easy to walk as possible. The winter walks are checked and cleared or rolled daily and are mostly circular walks.
