Inside the cottage you will find, spread across three floors, five beautifully furnished double rooms that will accommodate a maximum of 10 people , a comfortable living room with a gorgeous antique Kachelofen (traditional Black Forest oven), as well as a modern high-quality kitchen with a corner bench that you would expect in such an old farm. All five bedrooms are rear-facing towards the forest and are absolutely quiet.
Please be aware that during the winter months and during COVID times, the maximum number of people in the cottage will be 8 and the bedrooms on the 2nd floor will not be available!

Our holiday apartment, which is located in the front section of Strittmattergut, forms part of the main farmhouse which was built in 1748. The generous apartment extends over two floors, has about 130 sqm and like our holiday cottage it has its own separate entrance. The ground floor of the apartment has one of the three cozy bedrooms, the inviting living/dining area with a fabulous traditional tiled wood stove which is still the main source of heat in the holiday apartment, the spacious open plan kitchen and the recently renovated bathroom. On the 1st floor there are two more charming and spacious bedrooms. The smaller of these two bedrooms has a classic wooden floor and wood panelled walls with the larger bedroom having a restored wooden floor plus half wall wood paneling and access onto the wooden exterior balcony of the farmhouse.
​You can expect many homely details throughout the apartment, but can also enjoy the outside of the house in a private sitting and barbecue area which is located directly in front of the apartment entrance.

Description

Strittmattergut is a historic Black Forest Farm which was built in 1748. Hidden under the typically massive roof is the holiday cottage which, takes up the entire southern annex of the farm, the holiday apartment in the front of the house along with one more apartment which is also situated in the initial farm building as well as the still existing stables and the traditional barn. For the holiday cottage as well as for the holiday apartment there are two parking spots each available at the house.

The farm house is located in a wonderfully quiet spot right on the edge of the forest, surrounded by a spacious garden and a small stream splashing along at the rear of the property. Lake Schluchsee can easily be reached on foot in about 10 minutes. The garden invites you to relax, sunbathe or enjoy a bbq.

Experience the cozy atmosphere of this wonderful Black Forest farm house and enjoy the fresh Black Forest air on long hikes through lush forests and romantic gorges with rushing waterfalls, escape everyday life with a carefree boat trip on Lake Schluchsee, take a day trip to the city of Freiburg or discover some of the dreamy little villages of the Black Forest. How about a side trip into nearby Switzerland, to Lake Constance or maybe to close by Alsace? - The possibilities in the region are endless.

In winter time the ski areas around the Feldberg and in Menzenschwand provide more than 60km of perfectly prepared cross-country ski trails and many opportunities for snowshoe walking in the snow-covered forests or on the surrounding hills. And after an excursion in the fresh air, what could be better than warming up at the wonderful Kachelofen in a cozy living room?
