Beschreibung
Schollach in the Upper Black Forest was first mentioned in 1280 and was initially a branch parish of Urach. The first chapel was built in 1473 and consecrated to St Wolfgang in 1515. A legend tells of a wolf that abducted a child, which was found unharmed on the site of the later church.
In 1717, the church was renovated and decorated by the woodcarver Mathias Faller. A rectory was built in 1908 and the parish became independent in 1909.
In 1939, the church burned down after a lightning strike, although only a few items could be saved. During the war, an emergency church was set up in the ‘Sonne’ inn. Reconstruction began in 1948 under Pastor Heinrich Henke and was supported by many parishioners.
The new church was consecrated in 1949, although it was not yet fully furnished; the pews arrived in 1951 and the organ in 1954. A comprehensive renovation took place in 1994.
Schollach produced numerous clergymen. Due to a shortage of priests, the parish was served by priest Lederer from Friedenweiler from 1980 and was assigned to the parish of Eisenbach from 1990. Father Bernhard Stern was pastor from 1997 to 2005, before Schollach rejoined the Friedenweiler pastoral care unit.
