In 1118, the Augustinian monks founded the choir monastery in St. Märgen. The monastery was discontinued in 1806, but the baroque pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary remains, as does the pretty village, where customs and traditions are still cultivated today.
Of course, a few more modern offerings have been added since the Augustinians: For example, the Nordic Active Center or some challenging mountain bike trails. The "Finntrail" invites you to jog, the natural open-air swimming pool to swim, the tennis court and well-signposted hiking trails through the Black Forest open up the most beautiful panoramic tours. The newly designed monastery museum documents the landscape, art and clock history of the Black Forest.
The winter is crisp on the heights, but this does not keep real athletes away from the trails and slopes. Not even newcomers, who learn the fun on two boards in the ski schools in the Black Forest.
