Black Gate Local History Museum
Welcome to the Black Gate! We would love to show you how people lived and worked more than 100 years ago. We look forward to your visit!
Beschreibung
The Black Gate, a small farmhouse from 1803, houses the local history museum with a focus on "local crafts" and "rural customs".
The journey through time takes you through an original Black Forest smoke kitchen, a farmhouse parlor with a tiled stove, a bedroom with a four-poster bed, a traditional costume room with the famous Schäppel and two rooms showing the local clockmaking trade. In the barn there are farm implements as well as two hand looms, a clock sign painting workshop, a cooper's workshop and a locksmith's workshop. A shoemaker's workshop, straw weaving, stove making, shingle making, basket weaving and "Diechelebohren" (making wooden water pipes) round everything off.
