Adler ski jump Schönwald
The Adler ski jump in Schönwald is one of the few ski jumps in the world that is owned by a club. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to visit.
Beschreibung
The present ski jump is already the fourth in Schönwald. The inrun tower is 1104 metres above sea level. 154 steps lead up to the tower. The height difference between the inrun tower and the outrun is 105 metres. Until 2008, international competitions were regularly held on the normal jump, such as the legendary Black Forest Ski Jumping Tournament and the FIS Ladies Grand Prix. In 1981, the ski jump was rebuilt according to the latest FIS rules. In 2008, the FIS requested a new modernisation, but the costs were far too high for the club. The ski jump was therefore closed down.
The last men's jumping hill record is 93.5 metres, jumped by Finnish ski jumper Kiuru Tami, while the women's record is held by Helena Olsson from Sweden with 92 metres.
Many famous ski jumpers from past years have already jumped over the bakken in Schönwald, Martin Höllwarth, Jiri Malec, Ernst Vettori to name only a few. But some talented skiers from Schönwald have also learnt to fly here, such as Michaela Schmidt, one of the first women ever to ski jump, and of course Christof ‘Duffi’ Duffner, world champion and Olympic champion (both with the team).
There are two smaller ski jumps next to the large Adler ski jump. Young people from all over the region train here. Both the school and youth jumps are covered with plastic mattings so that training can take place there almost all year round. National competitions are also held here regularly.
