Bruder-Klaus-Kapelle Schonach
The Bruder Klaus Chapel is located in an idyllic valley (border triangle of the Black Forest-Baar district/Emmendingen/Ortenau district) in the Rensberg district of Schonach. It was named in honour of the Swiss national and peace saint.
Beschreibung
It is worth mentioning that the chapel is a joint endeavour that was built with
built with a lot of passion and community spirit. We would like to thank the many helpers and friends once again.
Inside, there is a wooden cross with a carved Alpine body in the centre. This has a special feature: Jesus' right hand is detached from the cross as a blessing or as an invitation to accept his "own" cross. The cross is framed by two pictures. One shows the Merciful Jesus by Sister Faustina from Krakow, the second is a picture of the Virgin Mary "the Lady of All Nations". Under the simple wooden altar, the 10 Commandments can be seen on a wooden panel. There are also two wooden figurines, St Joseph and the chapel's patron saint Nicholas of the Flüe, on the side walls. The little bell on the tower is dedicated to St Joseph.
The entries in the chapel book and conversations make it clear that this place is a place of prayer where you can find peace and recharge your batteries.
The chapel can be reached on Rensberger Straße between Gasthaus Karlstein and Hotel Zur Schönen Aussicht. Follow the footpath for approx. 700 metres in the direction of Schneckenloch.
