Contemporary Witnesses in Löffingen
A journey through time at the sites in and around Löffingen.
Beschreibung
‘Löffingen on the Baar has stood for more than a thousand years’ can be read on the wall of a house as you enter the historic town of Löffingen in the Upper Black Forest from the north.
However, the history of the region goes back much further than a thousand years. This project aims to inspire visitors to travel back in time to still existing sites of the past, where they can see how people adapted to the conditions of the Upper Black Forest centuries ago.
From the Alemannic tomb in the local museum, the pilgrimage church Wittenschnee to the well-preserved, lovingly maintained town centre and the guild hall...
Places steeped in history in Löffingen - they are often excellently preserved, but sometimes a little imagination is required. Each of the places described has a plaque with information about its history.
The Wutach Gorge has also always been very important for the region. Today it is mainly visited by tourists, but in the past it was the livelihood of many people. Mills and saws were operated along the Wutach and later even electricity was generated.
