Feldberg Tower
Great views! The lift takes you comfortably to the viewing platform on the 11th floor of the tower at a height of 45 metres. From up there, you have a breathtaking panoramic view in good weather: From the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau to the Zugspitze, the Mont Blanc massif and the Vosges mountains.
Beschreibung
The Feldberg tower, which was owned by Südwestrundfunk until 2001 and used as a radio tower, has been owned by the municipality of Feldberg since April 2003. The tower was opened to visitors in summer 2003 and reopened in July 2018 after extensive renovation work. The entrance and the 11th floor with its viewing platform have been fitted with new panoramic windows, doors and a new floor covering.
The Feldberg Tower can be easily reached in just a few minutes on the Feldberg cable car or on foot in around 40 minutes (starting point: Haus der Natur in Feldberg-Ort).
On the highest peak in the Black Forest, with sweeping views of neighbouring European countries, a museum is now dedicated to a globally important regional culinary speciality and thus to an entire region and its people: the Black Forest Ham Museum. It is located in the Feldberg tower and is open from May (after the Feldberg railway has been overhauled) until October.
The Feldberg webcams provide an impression of the marvellous view from the Feldberg tower. The permanent exhibition "Facing Tradition" by Sebastian Wehrle is also an eye-catcher in the tower: in his pictures, the photographer has old Black Forest costumes presented by modern models.
From June to October (outside the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg), weddings are held in the Feldberg Tower on individual Fridays and Saturdays. The tower is closed to visitors during weddings.
