Glass Garden
The glass garden – one of the stops on the historical “Glasträgerweg”.
Beschreibung
The glass garden is part of the historical “Glasträgerweg” (“glass carrier path”) which goes from the Black Forest Highlands across the heights of the Hotzenwald Forest and the depths of the Wehra Valley into Switzerland.
The production and export of glass was already a source of livelihood for the people in the Black Forest Highlands 200 years ago. Glass production and the path of the glass carriers is presented vividly.
The Glasträgerweg is a thematic hiking trail, spanning 180 km. It leads from the Feldberg region through the most beautiful landscapes of the Southern Black Forest to the Hochrhein in a roughly 10 day-trip. It passes 20 former glasswork locations with information boards. Three modern-day glassworks are also on the route.
