Heiligenbrunnenchapel St. Margarethen
The chapel dates back to 1710, but the place of pilgrimage is much older.
Beschreibung
It was first mentioned in a document in 1519, when a priest from Neustadt was granted permission to hold services here. But what makes this place so special? - An old legend...
Legend about the Chapel of the Holy Fountain: According to this legend, a thirsty Notburga knocked on a stone here and a spring gushed out, making her a saint. For about five hundred years, Heiligenbrunnen has been a destination for many women from Titisee and the surrounding area in July, as St. Notburga was the patron saint of pregnant women and women in childbirth in the Middle Ages and has remained so until modern times.
The chapel itself is dedicated to St. Margaretha, one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Like Notburga, she is considered a guide for women in childbirth.
The chapel can be visited if you are interested. The key to the chapel is available at the Heiligenbrunnen inn during opening hours.
