Historische Seilerei und Mooshofmühle
Experience historical technology and traditional crafts up close! In the Löffeltal valley, water power was used for many centuries, for example to produce ropes or operate a mill. The two historic buildings have been lovingly restored and are open to interested visitors as part of tours or guided hikes.
Beschreibung
The former mill of the Moserhof in Oberprechtal was moved to the Höllsteig site near the ropery in 2008. The mill with the residential part has been restored to its original state from the end of the 18th century with a smokehouse, the cobbler's workshop from 1736 on the ground floor and the cooperage of the barrel maker A. Winterhalter in the attic, as it was operated until the early 20th century at the exit of the Löffeltal.
The mill with one grinding and one tanning gear is driven by an overshot water wheel. Since 2005, there has been a faithfully reconstructed and fully functional 18th century ropery here on the Höllsteig. A small workshop is housed in the head building, while an exhibition room in the attic provides space for equipment and information boards.
There is also a Black Forest granary on the site and an oil mill is planned. (Mill parts in neighbouring tent).
