The chapel of St. Nicholas of Myra stands on the border of two farms. Half of it belongs to the Griesbachhof (Schildwende) and the other half to the Berggrunderhof (Jostal). A chapel dedicated to St Nicholas is known to have stood here since the early settlement of the valley around 1300. It was rebuilt in 1720 and renovated in 1957. Next to the chapel is an old Russian cross with the date 1720, where, according to tradition, fallen Russians were buried (source: "Die Höfe im Jostal und in der Schildwende" by Therese Tritschler).
