Michelhof Chapel Linach
The small chapel in the upper Linach Valley was first mentioned in 1650.
Beschreibung
In Oberlinach stands the Michelhof (today: Zum wilden Michel), which owes its name to Michael Grieshaber. He rebuilt the farm, which burnt down in 1802, a year later. According to the old Linach chronicle, there is a document from 1650 about the farm in the princely archives in Donaueschingen, in which the farm and its inhabitants are mentioned for the first time. It is estimated that the chapel was also built at that time, but it was located around 100 metres above the current site.
The deceased owner Horst Brenner also had to rely on these assumptions. He learnt from a former shepherd boy that the chapel was lifted from its former location, which was no problem with a wooden beam foundation, then wooden rollers were pushed underneath and the entire chapel was rolled to its current location. Once a year, on New Year's Eve, the bell of the small chapel is rung, as has always been the custom at Michelshof.
