Seppjockelshof Chapel Furtwangen-Rohrbach
Small court chapel near the Stöcklewald tower
Beschreibung
Owned by the Beate and Paul Ketterer family
Built in 1583
The building was constructed around 1600 and is one of the oldest in the area. The name of the farm was formed by the farmers Sepp and Jakob Ketterer around 1750.
Around 1825 it was a farmhouse with a granary, bakery, grist mill and an outbuilding built before 1746.
A chapel was added later.
Originally, the chapel was a wooden hut. It was converted into a chapel in 1583. The bell was confiscated at the beginning of the war in 1939 and melted down for weaponry, as was often the case elsewhere.
A tin bell was installed as a replacement, which still hangs today. The chapel was renovated piece by piece in the early 1970s and covered with wooden shingles. In 2005, the roof was re-shingled and the bell tower was copper-plated.
St Michael is the patron saint.
From 1 May to All Saints' Day, the bell is rung daily at 11 am.
The May devotion is celebrated on a Sunday in May with a mass, followed by braided bread for the physical well-being.
