Beschreibung
A popular destination for walkers and nature lovers, the Zweiseenblick offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. From this vantage point, visitors can not only admire the Hirschbädermoor in all its splendour, but also enjoy a magnificent view of the two lakes that give the vantage point its name. To the left is Lake Titisee, nestled in the rolling hills of the Upper Black Forest, while to the right is Lake Schluchsee, picturesquely nestled between wooded mountain slopes. This spectacular view invites you to stop and have a snack.
The Zweiseenblick is also an excellent starting point for further walks and explorations in the surrounding area. Many well-marked footpaths lead from here to other worthwhile destinations in the Upper Black Forest, such as the Feldberg or the nearby Hirschbädermoor. The Hirschbädermoor lies on a narrow saddle between the Menzenschwander Alb and the Neuglashütten valley basin at an exceptional altitude of 1270m to 1290m above sea level. It is considered to be the highest raised bog in Baden-Württemberg.
Although the Hirschbädermoor still has some connection to the small catchment area and is not exclusively fed by rainwater, it can be considered a raised bog due to its predominant raised bog vegetation.
The formation of Hirschbädermoor began with the silting up of a lake in the late Ice Age. Over the course of thousands of years, the formation of the bog extended far beyond the original lake and the peat body grew downhill over the edge of the lake into the hillside. The northern part of the bog, accessible by a boardwalk, formed independently of the larger raised bog when two nearby hollows at the watershed became marshy.
