Beschreibung
At lunchtime you can fortify yourself with delicious soups on cold days.
The specialty there is the “Vesperplatte Stöcklewald” with bread.
The snack bar also invites you to linger in comfort.
The approximately 25-metre-high observation tower was built in 1894 by the Triberg branch of the Black Forest Association as a round tower in the Furtwangen district and was inaugurated in May 1895.It is a popular excursion destination on the Black Forest Association's Mittelweg trail.
From the viewing platform, you can see across the central Black Forest to Feldberg and beyond to the panorama of the Swabian Alb and the Alps from Zugspitze to Mont Blanc. The platform can be climbed via 127 steps.
The Stöcklewald tower is also used by amateur radio operators as a relay station. At 1,100 metres above sea level, the Stöcklewald relay is the second-highest 2m FM relay in Germany (DB0WX). It picks up the radio transmissions of radio amateurs and transmits them with higher power. The Freiburg Regional Council has also installed the radio networks of the police, THW, fire brigade and rescue services on the tower.
