Beschreibung
The cycle path stretches for around 27 kilometers and runs between Titisee-Neustadt and Bonndorf. The route offers a delightful combination of nature experiences and historical insights.
Such a flat cycle path is unique in this length in the southern Black Forest. It allows both relaxed and sporty cycling and is particularly suitable for families and senior citizens. The special charm of the route lies in the large, even curve radii, long straights, deep cuts in the terrain and high embankments.
One attraction is the Klausenbach viaduct, an iron under-chord bridge near the Löffelschmiede near Lenzkirch, with a span of 47 meters. The Bähnle cycle path is an attractive link between the cycle path networks of the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Waldshut districts and enables interesting tours in both districts down to the High Rhine.
After 70 years, it was over again - the great expectations were never fulfilled.
From the history of the Lenzkirch “Bähnle”.
The Kappel-Gutachbrücke - Lenzkirch - Bonndorf railroad line was officially opened in 1907 with a decorated special train. 70 years later, it was once again a special train that made history. For the people of Lenzkirch had given their “Bähnle” a wistful farewell. That memorable special trip took place on May 1, 1977. Legend has it that it was the train journey with the most passengers in the history of this branch line. Just a few days later, the tracks were removed and the 25 km long railroad line was finally history. Only the Lenzkirch station was given a short reprieve. Three years later, the venerable building from the imperial era also fell victim to the demolition excavator. The Lenzkirch Kurhaus was built on the same site.
Wegbeschreibung
This leisurely connoisseur's tour starts in Neustadt or alternatively in Hinterzarten (access route via Titisee to Neustadt) at the railroad station and follows the Gutach under the Gutach bridge through the peaceful valley. The route continues almost flat below Kappel via Kappel-Grünwald station to idyllic Lenzkirch, where you can take a short break. Now follow the historic railroad line over the Klausenbach viaduct to Holzschlag. There you pass horse pastures above Gündelwangen and enjoy a beautiful view of the Wutach Gorge. The last section to Bonndorf runs through peaceful forests, far away from the hustle and bustle. At the end, you can visit the Bonndorf Castle cultural center. Alternatively, the Hochschwarzwald lake cycle path from Bonndorf via Schluchsee, Windgfällweiher and Titisee to Titisee-Neustadt offers a sporty return route (dotted route).
History: The Kappel - Gutachbrücke - Lenzkirch - Bonndorf railroad line was officially opened in 1907 with a decorated special train. The first tourists arrived, commuters saved a lot of time and freight traffic brought quality watches from Lenzkirch quickly and safely to customers. The last special trip took place 70 years later, as people became increasingly mobile and freight transport was no longer profitable.
