Breitnau Roßbergrundweg

Don't miss the traditional snack in the "Naturfreundehaus".

You start the panoramic trail around Breitnau's local mountain at the hiking parking lot at the church in the town center. From the parking lot, you first walk a short, steep section up the Roßberg. From there, follow the wide forest path down through the forest. After a bend to the right, a small footpath leads you down past the Hugenweiher pond.

Then it's back up across the meadows until you come to a small road on the upper "Fahrenberg". Walk straight on to the "Naturfreundehaus" and Schanzenhäusle/Waldeck. From there, you walk back to the village of Breitnau on a sunny high-level trail along the edge of the forest with wonderful views.

Premium winter hiking trail

Premium winter hiking trails are specially maintained and signposted winter hiking trails that have been developed together with the "Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln" (German Sport University Cologne). The routes are selected so that they are mostly very scenic and as easy to walk as possible. The winter hiking trails are checked and cleared or rolled daily and are mostly circular hiking trails.
