Beschreibung
At the starting point, there is a magnificent panoramic view before extensive meadows and forests dominate the marvellous landscape. At the Jägerhochsitz at Waldeck, we turn right onto the gravel path and from the stone cross, the path now descends much more steeply into the valley.
The initially wide path soon narrows and leads deeper and deeper into the valley floor. We soon reach a wooden footbridge on which we cross the Balgenbächle stream. The narrow hiking trail then leads downstream. The water rushes and flows gently down the valley in countless small cascades to the Lochmühle trailhead.
Alongside the now much wider Gauchach, the trail continues steadily downstream. A narrow path leads past rocks and another wooden bridge guides us safely across the water. After a narrow section, the path becomes a little easier to walk on again, then we change banks again on another footbridge. It soon becomes a little more arduous again, as stone steps and metal footholds give the path an alpine character. The Gauchach Gorge soon widens again. After a small waterfall, we cross the mouth of the Enge gorge. Once again we cross the Gauchach and two sections secured by wire ropes lead directly along the rock face. Then the wild scenery relaxes at the castle mill built in 1705.
We leave the Gauchach Gorge and turn left onto the Burgmühlenweg trail leading uphill. After an energy-sapping climb, this leads halfway out of the forest back to the hikers' car park.
