The wildlife trail provides information on why leisure activities can be a disturbance for wild animals and gives valuable tips on wildlife-friendly behavior in the forest. The story of Karla the deer calf is told in a child-friendly way on 10 lovingly designed boards.
Autorentipp
You are in the midst of a diverse habitat of numerous wild animal species and sensitive habitats. Rare species such as the endangered capercaillie or our largest native mammal species, the red deer, are at home here. As most wild animals are very shy, they are rarely seen. However, with a bit of luck and a keen eye, you will find many clues to the presence of wild animals.
Wegbeschreibung
The wildlife trail starts at the Wittlisberg chapel in Häusern, right next to the Rotrütte forest playground. Right at the start of the trail, you will meet Karla the deer calf and set off with her in search of her father. After a short climb into the forest, turn right and meet Wanja the squirrel, who will send you on to Walter the wild boar. On the way, you will have a beautiful view of the houses and Höchenschwand. You come to a small clearing and meet Hanna, the capercaillie hen. Between the trees, you can see the mountain ranges of the Upper Black Forest and even the Alps on a clear day. Frido the water frog awaits you at the next crossroads. Follow the Bengelweg uphill in the direction of Blasiwald. After about 200 meters, turn right and you will come to a large clearing. Udo, the hedgehog, has another tip for you, but first take a short break on the panoramic lounger and enjoy the view up into the treetops. Continuing along the path, you come to Regine the deer. Passing numerous anthills, blueberry bushes and wildflowers, you come to a hiking trail behind the next bend, which you follow downhill. Karla finally finds out from Frieda the vixen where she can find her father. After a short, steep descent, you turn right before the Wittlisberg chapel and reach the starting point of the wildlife trail.
