Beschreibung
We walk from "Rothaus" through the "Mettmatal" past the idyllic "Mettmastausee". We can admire the impressive rock world of the "Schlüchttal" and climb the "Swedish rock", where we have a beautiful view. In the "Witznau" we reach the end point of our hike.
Autorentipp
The "Falkenstein" has its name as breeding ground for the protected birds. With a bit of luck and good binoculars, you may be able to watch these skillful hunters or even get the shy chamois in front of the lens. As there is no rest stop between "Rothaus" and "Witznau", backpacking is recommended.
Wegbeschreibung
From the bus stop we go past the roundabout in the direction of "Grafenhausen". Right hand is now the district "Brünlisbach". We follow the red rhombus through the gem. At the ski lift the path gives us a wonderful view over the "Mettmatal" out to the "Feldberg". Following the mark 7 further, we keep to the right at the next junction and, following the mark 18 downhill, we follow the valley to the "Mettmatalstraße". Here we branch off to the left and continue hiking down the "Mettma" downstream, past the idyllic "Mettmastausee" to "Lochmühle". Here our trail crosses the driveway and leads us along the "Mettma", past the hidden ruins "Mandach" to "Mettmatalmündung" on the L-157. The rock world of the "Schlüchttal" with its rocky gate on the wild stream is particularly impressive. After a short stretch along the road down the valley, the narrow path with the red rhombus turns right and leads steeply up to "Schwedenfelsen", whose summit rewards us with a wonderful view. Along the ridge, we continue to "Falkenstein" as the next vantage point. At the hiking car park we keep to the left of the road for about 100m right after the narrow "serpentine path" steeply downhill to "Witznau" to follow the end point of our hike.
Ausrüstung
We recommend sturdy shoes.
