Beschreibung
Our tour starts at the hiking car park at the Gauchachschule in Döggingen. From here, we walk along the old Roman road through the bird sanctuary to the wild and romantic Gauchach, which is named after the cuckoo. South of Döggingen, the Gauchach has carved its way through the hard shell limestone and formed the still natural gorge.
Together with the Wutach, into which it flows, the Gauchach is the last untamed wild river in the German low mountain ranges. An island of unspoilt nature in the middle of an ancient cultural landscape.
The Gauchach and Wutach Gorge nature reserve in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park includes the Wutach Gorge, the Haslach and Rötenbach Gorge and the Lotenbach Gorge.
Before we reach the "Posthaus", we can cool our feet at the water treading area and take our first break at the barbecue area by the Kupferbrunnen fountain. Opposite the Posthaus at the hikers' car park, we now head downstream on the path to the Guggenmühle. On our way, we cross the Gauchach again and again on adventurous footbridges and are thus always very close to the stream.
If you wish, you can continue downstream at Grünburg/Lochmühle to Burgmühle and towards the Wutach Gorge and explore the Black Forest Gauchach Gorge Premium Hiking Trail (see Tour 33). Alternatively, you can hike steeply uphill to the Gauchenhütte. From here, we walk back to the centre of Döggingen via Gauchachstraße.
