St. Georgen-Route
Leicht
At 17.5 km, this relatively short and easy tour in the direction described starts at the railway station in St. Georgen and initially leads along the well-known Black Forest railway line. At the Stockburger Mühle mill, you then take the Stockwaldtalweg trail, past the Hotel Rosengarten and the Schillertanne natural monument back to St. Georgen, where the nearby monastery pond invites you to take a dip. A visit to the Formum at the railway station is worthwhile right at the end of the route. A detour into the town of St. Georgen with a visit to the German Phonomuseum, the local history museum "Schwarzes Tor" or the Grässlin Collection is recommended.

1 The monastery pond is a natural, 30,000 square metre pond fed by the Brigach river with a lido. The pond was created by the monastery as a fishing pond and was also used to operate the monastery mill. The spacious leisure facility with kiosk and restaurant is integrated into the landscape and offers several highlights for families in particular, including a children's paddling pool with mud area, a water trampoline with a diameter of approx. 7 metres and a giant iceberg.
2 German Phono Museum The informative collection provides an insight into the traditional St. Georgen phono industry. An interesting and informative exhibition vividly shows visitors the history of the development of phono technology, which is rich in curiosities. Beginning with the Edison phonograph invented in 1877 and continuing ten years later with the invention of the gramophone, which heralded the triumphant advance of the record over 100 years later. The progressive development of the devices up to today's hi-fi stereophony can be followed very clearly. The first epoch-defining record changers from the companies Dual and PE can also be admired - and two demonstration devices for record players from the 1970s can be put into operation by the visitors themselves. Opening hours May - Oct., Tuesday - Sunday 11.00 - 17.00 German Phonographic Museum
3 Local History Museum "Schwarzes Tor" The farmhouse, which was mentioned as early as 1664, burnt down in 1802 and rebuilt in 1803, is located in the centre of the town. It was restored at great expense in the early 1990s and converted into a museum of local history. Here you can see how people lived and worked in those days. Opening hours May - Sept., every Sunday 2.00 - 5.00 pm Local History Museum Schwarzes Tor
4 The collection of contemporary art from 1981 to the present day was put together by the Grässlin family and is one of the largest art collections in Germany. The concept of the Grässlin Collection is characterised by the fact that the family members concentrate on selected artists from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. These are often large blocks of works that fit more into the museum context than a private collection. It was therefore all the more important for the Grässlin family to be able to make the collection accessible to the public by establishing the KUNSTRAUM GRÄSSLIN in 2006. 5 Technik Museum St. Georgen In the old buildings of the former STAIGER watch factory, a new meeting place has been created that makes technology visible as a cultural value. It is not a museum in the conventional sense, but rather a forum for the presentation of a wide variety of areas. A technology museum with vintage cars, old motorbikes and lorries, machines, hot-air engines, railways and railway models. Exhibits from Staiger clocks as well as a miniature circus and toy museum can be found in the halls. Artists from the region exhibit their works in the art gallery. The well-known documentary filmmaker Hermann Schlenker will also be presenting his life's work at the FAB. https://www.tm-stg.de/
At Peterzell, there is the option of travelling on Tour 21, the "Villingen Route" in the opposite direction, to Königsfeld. The climatic health resort and Kneipp spa of Königsfeld has a number of attractions, such as the Albert Schweitzer House, the church hall of the Moravian Brethren, the Doniswald (squirrel forest) and the beautifully landscaped spa gardens. As Tour 19 follows the same route as Tour 21 from the turn-off in Peterzell to Stockburger Mühle, the second option would be to extend the cycle tour at Stockburger Mühle instead of turning right onto Stockwaldtalweg and continuing straight on towards Villingenz. On this route, you will soon come across an impressive quarry. The route then continues within sight of the Danube tributary Brigach and the Black Forest railway along the outdoor pool and miniature golf course into the historic centre of Villingen with its gates and towers, museums and parks and the many cafés that invite you to linger.
