Thurner skating trail 15.2 km (shortcut: 6 km, 8 km, 12 km)
Mittel
This medium-difficulty tour starts at the Thurner cross-country skiing centre. It runs through snow-covered forests, sunny clearings and past magnificent views. The tour can be shortened to 6 km, 8 km or 12 km.
Beschreibung
There are three shortcuts to choose from, allowing you to tailor the route to your own abilities and preferences.
After about a third of the way, the classic and skating trails run almost side by side. The skating trail has the most elevation gain at the start, up to Fahrenberger Höhe. After that there are easier climbs. So don't push too hard at the beginning and save your energy for the rest.
Wegbeschreibung
The trail starts at the Loipenhäusle, where an entrance portal marks the start of the trail. The trail climbs steeply at the Waldbauer, where the alpine views are thrilling, and the descent to the Fahrenhalde gives you a brief respite before climbing the steep ramp to the Eckershäusle. The Westweg, now snow-covered, crosses the 1190m high Weißtannenhöhe. At a fork in the forest path, the Schonach-Belchen cross-country ski trail branches off towards Hinterzarten. The legendary trail runs along the Thurnerspur for part of its 100 kilometres. The trail returns in a wide arc to the Eckershäusle, which has been a cross-country skiing centre for a number of years. Here you can refuel before the last few kilometres. There are a few more climbs before a final descent brings you back to the cross-country skiing centre.

DSV Premium Tracks:
Together with the local authorities, the cross-country skiing clubs and the Southern Black Forest Nature Park, the DSV Safety in Skiing Foundation (SIS) and the DSV Environmental Advisory Board have worked over the last few years to improve the quality of the cross-country skiing centres in the Southern Black Forest. 1,200 km of cross-country trails have been certified as DSV Nordic Active Centres according to international criteria, signposted using a standardised system, equipped with information boards and local trail flyers, and made comprehensively accessible to internet users via the DSV trail portal (www.loipenportal.de). In addition, a cross-country trail map has been developed which shows all certified cross-country trail centres in a unique overview and quality and contains specific suggestions and tips for cross-country skiers in the southern Black Forest.
