Beschreibung
Kappel is a typical Black Forest settlement consisting of individual farms with mighty hipped roofs, some of which are still farmed and characterise the village. The church of St Gallus is mentioned as early as 1275.
From the car park, follow the path to the Blume inn, from where you have to climb a few metres to the Franzosenkreuz. Once you reach the top, you have a fantastic view of Kappel and the heights of the Black Forest Highlands. You follow the Höhenkammweg to the Hochfirst, passing the Hierabrunnen fountain on the way. There you can refresh yourself and take a break. Once you reach the tower (unfortunately closed due to structural problems), you can enjoy one of the best views of Lake Titisee from the paraglider platform. From there, it's back downhill to Saig. In the centre of Saig, you walk over the Hiera to Kappel. There is an interesting wooden cross on the way - the Hiera cross. At the entrance to Kappel, turn left towards the Kappel outdoor pool, a gem and definitely worth a visit in July/August. The route then returns to the starting point via the Zipfelhof farm past the Blume inn.
