Beschreibung
Lake Titisee is the largest natural lake in the Black Forest. It measures 2 km in length and 1 km in width. It lies approx. 845 m above sea level, covers an area of 1.3 km² and is up to 40 m deep. It owes its formation to the Feldberg glacier of the last ice age. It is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. Unique is the spiny bream (Isoetes echinospora) and the lake bream (Isoetes lacustris), which otherwise only occurs in the Feldsee and is a remnant of the last ice age.
Lake Titisee is a protected landscape area, and private motorboats (including electric motors) are not permitted on the lake.
