Beschreibung
A beautiful and varied cycle tour awaits you on the former route of the narrow-gauge railway "Todtnauerli", which ran from 1889 to 1967 between today's bus station in Todtnau and the railway station in Zell. Along the way, you will be accompanied by information boards at the former stops of the narrow-gauge railway. From the car park at the Haus des Gastes, the tour takes you past the bus station and Silberberg school onto the sandy cycle path. From here, you cycle past fields to Utzenfeld. Here you can stop for a second breakfast at the Faller jam factory. Further on, you can already see the highest tower in the district of Lörrach (90 metres high) on the Mühlmatt before Schönau. You can't go up the tower, but a detour into the interior of the church is absolutely worthwhile. The south side doors are open during the day. After the district of Fröhnd, another highlight of the cycle tour awaits: you cycle through the only tunnel on the former railway line. The solar lamps light the way. If you stop in the centre of the tunnel, not only can you enjoy the cool air in summer, but you may also hear the last echo of the shovelling steam locomotive. Passing through the villages of Mambach and Atzenbach, you finally reach Zell. The Wiesentäler Textile Museum is located here in front of the Aldi and Edeka supermarkets. If you are there during opening hours, you can also take a look inside the museum. A short distance after the end of the cycle path is the last stop on the S-Bahn S6, which runs between Basel SBB and Zell im Wiesental.
There are two alternatives here:
- You can enjoy the cycle path again and cycle back to Todtnau.
- Take the L7300 bus equipped with bike racks in the direction of Todtnau/Titisee and return to the bus station in Todtnau.
