This valley is the main connection between the Rhine plain and the Black Forest and is famous because of the legendary statue of a deer, called Hirschsprung: High above the Höllental, the deer momunent is standing on large rocks. At the narrowest point of the canyon he was able to escape his pursuers by a daring jump over the gorge.
